United States Name Jamie Hanford Defensive Coach for 2019 WJLC

NEW YORK, NEW YORK USA – US Indoor Lacrosse is pleased to announce and welcome Jamie Hanford as Defensive Coach for the 2019 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship. Hanford is a decorated Loyola University Alumni with a lengthy professional career and nearly two decades of coaching experience.
“With the success of last summers team, I am looking forward to this summer and building in the success. I am excited to bring my experience as an American indoor player to these young men to help build the future of US Box lacrosse players” said Jamie Hanford.
“We are very exited for Jaime to bring his experience as player and as defensive coach from the highest level to our U20 Junior Indoor Team.” Said Graham D’Alvia, General Manager. “Jaime has extensive experience developing players from professional to the youth level, with an emphasis on team and skill development for box lacrosse.” Added D’Alvia.
Hanford is a product of the Connecticut lacrosse scene. In high school he was a 3 sport standout, earning conference honors in football, ice hockey, and lacrosse. In 2012, he was inducted into the Connecticut Lacrosse Hall of Fame, the second lacrosse player ever to be honored by the Connecticut Chapter. Hanford was a 3x All FCIAC player, 2x All-State, All-American, and Connecticut Player of the year in 1994. He helped Darien win its first two FCIAC championships in 1992 & 1994. In his senior year, he was the North South All-Star Game MVP.
The Darien, CT native was a 3x All-American at Loyola and a 13 year indoor and outdoor Professional Lacrosse player. He went on to be a long-time player in both Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and the National Lacrosse League (NLL); he won a MLL Championship playing for the then-Baltimore Bayhawks in 2002, along with NLL Championships with the Philadelphia Wings and Colorado Mammoth. On the world lacrosse stage Hanford was assistant captain for Heritage Cup Championship winning team, Team USA in 2002.
Hanford was named the Defensive Coordinator for the MLL Atlanta Blaze in 2018. In addition he has been coaching lacrosse camps for nearly two decades and is presently Coach/Director of Connecticut based Eclipse Club program. Jamie currently resides in Darien, CT with wife Stephanie and their two boys, Hunter (8) and Finn (6).
